Taken at the tail end of the shoot in Santa Rosa last week for Ashley, a Discovery Bay-based model. One softbox, one bare bulb and a very close mural. I would have had her step away from the wall another foot in most cases, but I wanted this look and I’m happy with the light.

Sorry for the tacky headline. I’m not sure if this works. The kid was looking at his arm after watching the groom (foreground) get his mehndi (henna) painted on for a few minutes. Sometimes there’s not time (or space) to improve your composition and you have to work with what you have. Does this work? I don’t know. I got the other shot, with Nick in focus, of course. Expect quite a few more wedding photos from this last weekend over the next few days – I have a tremendous variety and I can’t wait to start working through them.

Another one from their engagement shoot between Petaluma and Sonoma. I’ve been trying to focus on the fiance/groom more – it’s generally pretty easy to make beautiful photos of the fiancee/bride, but the fiance/groom is just as important.

I love shooting at sunset. The light here on Monastery Beach was marvelous. I don’t mind the seaweed in the shot either, I think it adds to it.
